The 《Red Desert》 team has confirmed that they are developing DLC! Long-term content updates are in the works.

Korean game developer Pearl Abyss recently released its Q1 2026 financial report, revealing that the open-world action-adventure game 《Crimson Desert》 has sold 5 million copies in just two weeks since its launch on March 19, contributing 266.5 billion KRW (approximately $1.8 billion USD) in revenue. Sales are evenly distributed across console and PC platforms, each accounting for about 50% of total sales. The game has performed particularly well in Western markets, which contribute over 80% of total sales volume.

However, what players are most looking forward to is the disclosure of the post-launch development plan in the financial report. Pearl Abyss has clearly stated that the team is actively exploring DLC content to take the game to new heights.

In the "New Business Lines and Growth Strategy" section of the report, Pearl Abyss wrote: "《Crimson Desert》 will continue to improve user satisfaction and drive new sales through ongoing updates, while expanding market share through platform expansions. Additionally, we are currently exploring various ways to elevate the game to new heights, including DLC content. We will share detailed information once specific plans are finalized."

This marks the first official confirmation that 《Crimson Desert》 will receive DLC, meaning this single-player open-world fantasy action game is not a "launch-and-forget" title, but is expected to receive long-term content support.

After the news came out, the player community quickly began to speculate. Some careful players discovered several unused content areas on the game map through boundary exploration, including a location marked "Sunbaked Peaks" that is currently completely unreachable. Many people speculate that this area is likely to be opened in the future story expansion DLC.

Since the game's launch, Pearl Abyss has released major updates almost every week, continuously optimizing the experience and earning widespread praise from players. The company forecasts that 《Crimson Desert》 will generate between 644.1 billion and 734.8 billion KRW (approximately $4.4 to $5.1 billion USD) in revenue for the full year 2026. Due to concentrated sales in the first month, Q2 revenue is expected to decline, but officials are confident in maintaining the game's popularity through consistent updates.
